R will be developing a page about our experience with the Civilian PCS process with all the facts and timeline data she's amassed -- but that will be a bit later. Right now, we are basking in the afterglow of the packout process. My car is at port in Houston awaiting transit by ship. Last Monday, the movers came to collect our express shipment so it will be winding its way to us by air over the next few weeks. Tuesday and Wednesday saw a flurry of constant activity as we managed to stay just seconds ahead of the packers while making a million exhausting decisions about everything we wanted in the House Hold Goods shipment -- Should this go, stay in Memphis, get donated, or be thrown out? But Thursday we were ready when the movers arrived to crate most of our belongings up and ship them ocean vessel to us in Sicily. Everything should be arriving in Sicily by the day I fly back to Memphis to work out the remainder of the year. Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly and it all arrives safe and sound... This morning I would have traded it all back in for a good night's sleep in my own bed. We are so exhausted... ~J |
