We made it! J and I made it to Sicily with only one delay--we were held overnight in Norfolk waiting on the military flight. But, all in all, that was probably the best place to be held up since it was home turf for us not too long ago. We arrived in Sicily at 3:30am with two very tired and confused puppies. My kindhearted sponsor and his wife met us with two vehicles at the airport because one Italian sized car wasn't going to make it with two dogs and six bags. We slept for a couple hours and then on to base to start paperwork processing, where I signed more paperwork than when we bought our house in Memphis. Hopefully, our jet-lagged and sleep-deprived brains retained what we really need to know.
I'm not sure what to include in this blog. I'd like to describe what we are seeing and what all of this is like, but it's such a daunting task that I keep putting it off. How do you adequately describe something that is a whole world away from anything you've ever seen before? I'll give it my best shot, but be patient with me and let me know what you'd like to hear more about.
